Description

Specific Parameters

  • Iodine Value: Generally, the iodine value ranges from 400mg/g to 800mg/g. Honeycomb activated carbon with a higher iodine value has stronger adsorption capacity. For example, in some occasions with higher adsorption requirements, products with an iodine value ranging from 650mg/g to 800mg/g will be selected.

  • Compressive Strength: The normal compressive strength is greater than 0.8MPa, ensuring that the activated carbon is not easily broken during use and can withstand certain pressures and air flow impacts.

  • Specification Sizes: Commonly used specifications include 50×50×100mm, 100×100×100mm, etc. Other sizes can also be customized according to users' needs.

  • Pore Density: Common pore densities are 100 pores per square inch and 150 pores per square inch. The size of the pore density affects the contact area between gas and activated carbon as well as the adsorption efficiency.

  • Operating Temperature: Usually, the operating temperature is less than 400 degrees Celsius. If it exceeds this temperature range, the adsorption performance of the activated carbon may be affected or even lose its adsorption ability.

Applications

  • Industrial Waste Gas Treatment: Widely used in the treatment of VOCs in industries such as chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, electronics, spray painting, smelting, and solid and hazardous waste incineration centers. It can effectively remove multi-component organic waste gases such as benzene, xylene, acetone, hydrogen sulfide, acetic acid, ethanol, formaldehyde, ethane, phosgene, and malodorous gases, reducing the pollution caused by waste gas emissions to the environment.

  • Air Purification: It can be used for indoor air purification to remove harmful gases such as formaldehyde, benzene, and TVOC in the air, improving air quality. It is especially suitable for newly decorated houses, offices, and public places.

  • Solvent Recovery: In industries such as pharmaceuticals, printing, and chemical engineering, it can be used to recover volatile organic solvents such as toluene, xylene, and ethanol during the production process, realizing resource recovery and utilization, reducing enterprise costs, and simultaneously reducing the pollution of organic solvents to the environment.

Advantages

  • High Adsorption Efficiency: The unique honeycomb structure enables a large contact area and long contact time between gas and activated carbon, allowing it to fully adsorb VOCs in waste gas. The adsorption efficiency can reach around 67.16% - 80%.

  • Low Air Resistance: At a wind speed of 2 meters per second, the air resistance is less than 480 Pa. The resistance when gas passes through honeycomb activated carbon is relatively small, which can reduce the energy consumption of equipment and cut down operating costs.

  • High Strength: It has good compressive strength and wear resistance, is not easily broken or pulverized, has a long service life, and can reduce the replacement frequency of activated carbon and lower maintenance costs.

  • Easy Installation: It can be flexibly installed and combined according to different usage scenarios and equipment requirements, and the operation is simple and quick.

  • Good Environmental Protection Performance: It removes VOCs through physical adsorption, will not cause secondary pollution, and is environmentally friendly.

Characteristics

  • Large Specific Surface Area: It has a large specific surface area that can provide more adsorption sites and enhance the adsorption ability for VOCs.

  • Well-Developed Pore Structure: It contains abundant micropores, mesopores, and macropores, forming a broad-spectrum pore size distribution, which can adsorb VOCs of different molecular sizes and has a good purification effect on organic waste gases with low and medium concentrations and large air volumes.

  • Stable Surface Chemical Functional Groups: It has stable surface chemical functional groups such as carboxyl groups, hydroxyl groups, and lactone groups. These functional groups can react with VOCs, further improving the adsorption effect.

  • Strong Water Resistance: The honeycomb activated carbon that has undergone special treatment has good water resistance and can be used in humid environments, broadening its application range.

  • Renewability: Under certain conditions, saturated honeycomb activated carbon can be regenerated through methods such as heating, decompression, and purging to restore its adsorption performance and achieve cyclic use, reducing resource waste and operating costs.

Production Process

  • Raw Material Selection: Select high-quality coal-based activated carbon powder, coconut shell activated carbon powder, or a mixture of the two as the main raw materials. According to different application needs and performance requirements, choose the appropriate fineness and quality of the activated carbon powder.

  • Addition of Additives: Add an appropriate amount of additives such as binders, lubricants, and waterproof agents to the activated carbon powder to improve the molding performance, mechanical strength, and water resistance of the activated carbon.

  • Mixing and Molding: After fully mixing the activated carbon powder and additives, add an appropriate amount of water or other solvents and conduct mixing to form a dough-like material with certain plasticity. Then put the material into a honeycomb mold and form it through extrusion, stamping, etc. to make a honeycomb-shaped activated carbon blank.

  • High-Temperature Activation: Put the formed activated carbon blank into a high-temperature furnace and conduct activation treatment under certain temperature and atmosphere conditions to make the pore structure of the activated carbon more developed, increase the specific surface area, and improve the adsorption performance.

  • Post-Treatment: Conduct post-treatment processes such as cooling, screening, and packaging on the activated carbon after activation to remove unqualified products and impurities and obtain the finished honeycomb activated carbon dedicated to VOCs.
